Louisiana Eases COVID Rules as Neighbors Ditch Mask Mandates

Texas and Mississippi are among four states to roll back mask mandates this week after steep declines in new COVID-19 infections, reports USA Today (3/3/21, Hayes). Some retailers in those states are keeping mask requirements and other measures in place, however. In Louisiana, Gov. Edwards loosened safety restrictions, but some restaurants in Baton Rouge say the benefit to business could be “negligible," reports The Advocate (3/3/21, Boone). This week's easing of pandemic rules is a move to the loosest restrictions in about a year, reports The Advocate (3/2/21, Karlin).
